First, there was the issue of the crickets. This family thought it odd that they were finding crickets in their home almost every evening, and especially in the bathroom. They were told by the owner of their home that it was somewhat normal to encounter crickets in the summer months, but the family had doubts. One day, Mr. Family Man went to the store to buy some insect repellant for outside in the attempt to deter said crickets from entering the house. As he began to spray the outside walls, the crickets literally came pouring out - and this is no exaggeration - by the hundreds. Mrs. Family Lady thought it would be a good idea to check the bathroom, thinking that if the crickets were pouring out of the walls outside, maybe they would be pouring out of the walls inside, too. And this is what she found in the shower:
Needless to say, Mr. Family Man was the one to address this issue.
Then came the monsoons. We're not just talking downpour - we're literally talking monsoon. Mrs. Family Lady was too busy wondering if the tree in the front yard was going to be blown through her kitchen window, and wasn't able to capture anything on camera, but you can see a good video of the most recent storm here.
And, just to top things off, there also came the electrical storms. Imagine a strobe light going off right outside your house, and you'll kinda get the jist of this. Here's the video Mrs. Family Lady just shot from the front porch.
Mr. Family Man and Mrs. Family Lady are learning how to be desert folk themselves, and are trying to enjoy the unexpected. Next stop: cactus garden! :)

That storm was CRAZY! So sorry about the crickets--I'm glad they were crickets and not roaches (we got a kick out of people calling them "waterbugs" when we moved here. They are ROACHES.) Good job adapting, Mr. & Mrs. Family People ;)
I'm not sure if this makes you feel better or worse, but we have literally seen one (1!) cricket in our house since we've lived here. :)
