Some Things We'll Miss...

OK, so I've been trying to gather a list of things that we'll miss as we make the move out of state. Honestly, even though I've lived here almost my whole life - and perhaps BECAUSE I have lived here almost my whole life - I can't find too many things that will be missed once we cross the state line.

However, I have managed to compile a nice little list, just for posterity's sake.

1. The Governator!
If you're not aware (and honestly, who isn't?), California has one of the most recognizable governors ever. Regardless of what you may think of his political work, who wouldn't agree that having the Terminator (or Turbo Man) as your governor is pretty cool?

2. The Beach - Natural Bridges, Santa Cruz
This has always been one of my favorite beaches in Santa Cruz. There's a huge sand area, this wonderful natural bridge made of rock, great tide-pooling (where, when the tide's out, you can look in nooks and crannies for all kinds of oceanic wildlife), and, in winter, it's a sanctuary for more than 100,000 monarch butterflies that you can visit. Pretty cool.

3. The Weather
I heart rain! And right now, as you can see from this past week's forecast, I'm enjoying the weather in NorCal. It's been like this since Monday. It doesn't rain here like it might in Portland or Seattle, but I love it all the same. They say Arizona's a desert, so I'm guessing there's not a whole lotta rain there. Ho hum...

4. "The Statue"
Just about anyone who lives in San Jose or the nearby area knows about the statue in Cesar Chavez park in downtown San Jose. It's SUPPOSED to be a statue commemorating Quetzalcoatl, but everyone knows it as the 'Pile of Poop'. I don't know, you decide.... :)

5. Friends who wish you the best!
This is the picture of the cake that the wonderful people of Knotty Hole Woodworks got for Eric's going-away party. He's worked there for over 9 years, and has always been 'Bambino'. Let's just say it's an honor if the guys he worked with give you a nickname! The guys made sure Eric knew he'd be missed!

That was so sweet of Eric's co-workers! I'm glad they got him a cake instead of a you-know-what...
Love you guys and I'm excited that we'll get to see you way more often! Praying for you this week as you make final preparations. :)
