The Low Down

You know how it goes....time just kinda gets away from you... I've been in a real funk lately and haven't even had the gumption to get on the computer and blog. Not that I haven't wanted to (because I have), and not that there's nothing going on over here (because there has been). You know, just one of those general blah periods of your life that pass by, and at the end of them you think, 'Where in the world did the time go?' So yeah, that's where I've been.

You remember Halloween? That holiday that was over a month ago? :) I have proof that we celebrated it here - even though it was seriously about 85 degrees at Trick-or-Treating time. So needless to say, the costumes didn't really last all that long. Kristen was a cute little elephant this year:

Cousins Caleb and Logan came over to Trick-or-Treat with us, so we had lions and elephants and Mr. Incredible - oh my!

Mid-November brought the graduation of another Officer Roy from the Arizona Law Enforcement Academy - Eric's brother, Alex. His other brother, Adam, and his dad were able to fly out, so it was good to see them as well. Here's all the 'Roy Boys' together for the first time in about 2  years.

For the Thanksgiving holiday, since Eric had the days off, we decided to make the long drive back to San Jose (12  hours!). We had a really great time seeing family and some friends, and it was really good to be back after 9 months in the desert. I realized even more after this trip that a) I'm really not all that fond of the desert, and b) I really miss trees and grass and such. Sigh!

You would think that I would have taken some pictures of our wonderful Thanksgiving dinner, or pictures of Kristen with her 4 cousins, or something, right? Well, you would be wrong. Crazy old me only took the camera out once, and it was at Starbucks. Yes, Kristen and I had some time together at coffee-land, and she enjoyed one of her new favorite treats - a pumpkin scone. Maybe she is my daughter after all! :)

And this past week, the first week of December, brought my birthday. For the first time since we've been married, Eric made me a birthday cake. I was very impressed and very grateful for such a special treat! (And I think Kristen helped with the sprinkles.)

We are all moved into our new house now, and just have a few remaining boxes lying around waiting to be unpacked. It's a really strange feeling to know that this is actually OUR place, and that we don't have to move anytime soon - that it can be considered permanent. I have started to unearth all our pictures and such, buy frames, and consider where to hang them on the walls - something we haven't really done in any of the last 2 or 3 places we've lived. So exciting! But alas, I have not taken one single picture of our house or any of the rooms. I know, crazy me. It's on my to-do list. As soon as I do, I'll be sure to share some of them with you all. Or, you can just come and visit! We definitely have tons of room for guests, and would love to see any of you!

With 2008 coming to a close, I wanted to be sure to tell you all how much you've meant to us over the last year. Whether you are family, old friends, new friends, or just acquaintances, we value you and are so grateful for you in our lives. Thanks for checking in on us, and may you always be reminded of the TRUE reason we celebrate at this time of year.
